Riley J. Williams III, MD, recently competed in the Washington, D.C. Amazfit HYROX Solo Men’s Open Competition, finishing in fourth place with a time of 1:39:44.
The top-five finish also marked a significant improvement from his HYROX performance in New York City earlier this summer. Dr. Williams shaved 13 minutes off his June NYC Solo time, an accomplishment he was understandably excited about.
For Dr. Williams, staying active and continuing to challenge himself offers another perspective on the athletes he treats every day. As a sports medicine surgeon, he understands the importance of preparation and recovery from a clinical standpoint. As an athlete himself, he also understands the motivation behind wanting to keep improving and get back to doing what you enjoy.
And he isn’t finished yet. After his Washington, D.C. performance, Dr. Williams shared that he plans to compete again at HYROX Anaheim in December.
As he put it himself: “Just a sports doctor doing sporty things.”
